CA-Death Valley

Death Valley – hottest of the hot and lowest of the lows. If you’ve been there, you know. If not….go! The colors, salt flats, dunes and badlands blow your mind. How hot? We were there in November….very pleasant.

Badwater Basin

282 feet below sea level. Lowest point in North America

Hiking – a spectacular experience for my soul!

I love the crunching of boots on trails, scrambling over rocks and looking upward at the slants and folds of a geographic upheaval from eons ago. (Natural Canyon, Mosaic Canyon and Golden Canyon)

With friends, Bill and Carol, we trekked until forward progress was impeded by barriers (typically, one of us would urge to climb..but the other three would not follow).

Ahhh! Badlands of Zabriskie Point

Dantes View: The Higher You Climb…..the More That You See

Death Valley, population 320, covers, 5,262 square miles Average rainfall less than 2″ and storms result in sudden flooding in the valley.

” …this is the real nature of California and the secret of its fascination; this untamed, undomesticated, aloof, prehistoric landscape which relentlessly reminds the traveller of his human condition and the circumstances of his tenure upon the earth. “You are perfectly welcome,” it tells him, “during your short visit. Everything is at your disposal. Only, I must warn you, if things go wrong, don’t blame me.”

  1. You’re so interesting! I don’t suppose I have read through a single thing like that before. So good to discover another person with some unique thoughts on this topic. Really.. many thanks for starting this up. This web site is one thing that’s needed on the web, someone with some originality!
